Arche

Arche: A greek word used often in the new testament primarily meaning "beginning", "origin" or "source". I truly believe there is a natural order to things, and I believe that authority would be established at the source. I believe that scripture teaches this ordering, and it arises naturally in our world as well.. That from the one, many arise. God is source, and from that flows the natural order of things. God is the head of Christ, Christ is the head of man, and man is the head of woman. From this the proper order is established to be able to effectively operate as a God glorifying unit in the world. I believe because of the fallen nature of things, that this order is deeply valuable in making sense of the struggles that modern culture faces in regards to family structure. A rainbow over a body of water. Lets look at another word: Patriarchy: A combination of the greek word "Pater" and "Arche" meaning father and origin or source. Yeesh! This one is going to be a risky one. The very roots of the words, as we can see, point to God the father as the source. If it is established as such, and I am subordinate to that source, then I must follow him. I like to call my belief in patriarchy my alpha bet. I'm reading the word daily, I'm seeking its truths by reading it and commentary on it. If I had to bet whether the bible teaches male responsibility/headship or not, I would bet it does. This initially humbles me, rather then giving me a sense of entitlement. I am humbled that I am going to be judged by my literal leadership. Whether I am right about broader implications of patriarchy, polygyny, and biblical truths that might come up in my writings, I don't personally feel I can escape the need to follow God closely and if in that I feel him leading me to a truth, I want to have faith to believe. This, for me, is closely correlated with my belief in the man being the head of his wives/family. I am responsible for the decisions I make for my family, both explicit, and decisions of omission. Therefore I take all of this very seriously.
