The American Flag - Freedom Flow in the Wind Time to Face the Truth Let Freedom Ring! The broad reaching social implications about the family structure, marriage, and our traditions in these things is reaching a boiling point, socially speaking. Right now, if you are a Christian, and you believe in the principle of patriarchy and its natural result: polygyny, then you can bet you are marginalized and generally socially condemned. Furthermore, it is true that it is generally condemned by both the "irreligious" non-believers and "religious" believers. I think those that are followers of Christ should reexamine their exegetical methods and take a look at the sum total of scripture before so quickly condemning a group of people they don't understand. We must be careful not to condemn something which God intended to be approved. There are some that believe to condemn what is biblically approved is a dangerous offence that has us acting more like the pharisees than the disciples that followed Jesus so closely. I recall anger towards the pharisees. Straining out a the tiny nat but letting a camel through, that log in the eye and the speck they see in you. Let God's word reveal! Generally speaking the Church and the world have made inroads in inclusive thinking to a broad array of sexual preferences. In light of this general allowance, a dis-allowance of something that is clearly not prohibited, and worse, a condemnation of it, is not something that I personally can stand. We must as Christians, try to live in the full light of the word at all times. Final Thoughts It is easy to take a few verses from the bible, and cleverly create an entire biblical expectation from it, especially when one of those verses finds itself in the initial creation descriptions. It is easy, but is it advisable? Would it not be wise to read the entirety of the text and use that "contextual" understanding to help us better interpret those verses. This cannot continue: we must read the bible in its entirety, and believe it in its entirety, as believers. Also, please understand that guilt by association is an easy logical fallacy to make. Remember the themes, the wheat and the chaff, sometimes it is not quite as it seems. We should be thankful that we have a God that is a master of logic, and is consistent, and has given us many books by which to weight the concepts we find in scripture. At some point I will actually get into the scripture and all the logic behind certain assumptions, but I can assure you the literature is available and free and anyone with a thinking mind can go find it for themselves. I will say this, that IF I am wrong about my assertions, then I hope to have God's spirit correct and move me his direction. Read the whole thing...believe the whole thing unashamedly, and show me I'm wrong? I am open to being taught.
