The High Road
Choices, PoetryThe High Road - 7/4/2016
I choose you, oh high road above. Thy challenging path laid in working for love.
Though opportunity is found on traditional ground, the road above in blessings abound.
I choose you, impressive mountain in my path. Prayerfully I push, waves splash in the aftermath.
From oceans you rise, so to oceans you go, mountains are cast into the seas far below.
I choose you, quietness and trust, in you I can rest, in God I entrust.
For returning and rest shall be mine indeed, as I follow my Lord, in him I proceed.
I choose to endure, to ensure and secure, that which with lies has been deemed so un-pure.
Does belief leave a choice if in his words I rejoice? Does tradition dare condemn a scriptural gem?
I choose to delight, in spirit and light, to bring salt and whats right, from the shining truth in the night.
So then hope for the change, by God's word it's ordained, endure the pain, we are called home to his range.
I choose you, old rusty door. Though your hinges are ruddy, you were useful before.
In and out of your old frame, people walked by name, unashamed and un-blamed.
I know you are good, I know with wisdom you plan. Is my story like Abraham's sand or Samson's last stand?
With two empty hands I offer this brand, to the God of creation and the father of man.
If I walk right up, if I knock on the door, will it by your arms open? I knock and endure.
Here I am, I stand at the cusp. God of my youth, whom formed me from dust.
Am I too bold, to stand here alone, or is this faith gold, and can it be done?
You hold the answers, advance on these thresholds, as its foretold.
If I ask in faith, will you part the seas? Walk on water next to me?
Oh Yah, grant me grace through your sovereign plan.
Can you open this up, something grand?
I'll move forward as long as I can.
See after it all, I am only a man.
