Family is Purpose
With so many principles in discussion, I reiterate the desired outcomes.
I often consider the statement by God "It is not good for man to be alone" and it's implications in my life. Traditionally the statement is taken within the context of Genesis 2 and has been connected with the creation of Eve. Eve was the helper fit for Adam, and at last man had his help-mate. Yet, what if that statement found a contextual understanding that took more then chapter 2 in consideration. What if Eve was not necessary the "solution" to man's loneliness, but the helper in it? Could we have made an idol out of something that is indeed beautiful, but was never meant to be revered so highly?
Read through the rest of the bible, see the stories of families, of wives and of children, and of many men and women of God in many different contexts. Had not the solution been provided? Indeed, the solution of mans problem of loneliness found is prescription back in Genesis 1, and its solution ordained by the words of God: Be fruitful and multiply. It is the idea of patriarchy that supports this, as patriarchy respects the mans household, and a real man of God will establish his household in love. Love should not be so limited by our notions of morality. It should be inclusive, accepting, and supportive. Perhaps as a whole the Church will find her way back out the heresy of the fears that flow from false idols falling around them. There will be natural consequences to our ignorance or inability to perceive the whole truth, but hopefully with grace and time, and Yeshua as our guide, we can in love bridge the gap that the fear has allowed to exist. May we be filled with HIS spirit.
The point is: God LOVES Family
Obedience to the Genesis 1 prerogative of fruitfully creating family through children and leading them in God's ways leads to family and community. I would love to have more children, through my current wife, and through additional wives (honestly right now I can't see myself with more then 3 wives, as I desire to have the time to be there for my entire family). Thais the hardest part. I've thought about hobbies I could pursue instead, and it all just feels so empty next to the hope of fathering a large family with many children (I think 12 would be amazing). Now 12 just isn't possible with one wife, so now society tells me my dream is (whatever) and I should accept my lot instead. That might be God's plan for me, and if it is and he reveals it to me i'll accept it, but let it be told that I do have hopes and dreams, and that now that I see the grand reward of biblical patriarchy, I am at least as a man willing to accept what I would be willing to work for, in faith and love.
So then my life is Yahweh's story. He can lead me where he will, and tell it how he will. All I know is I think he is a righteous and awesome God, and that I am a human man with hopes and desires like any other.
