Angry Birds
Ponder this one: most downloaded game of all time.
And this is the plot
The birds are angry, because their eggs have been stolen by the pigs. To get their eggs back, the angry birds arc themselves through the sky in an attempt to destroy the structures of the pigs.
After the humor of it has sunken in, here is why I do have anger about this.
Seriously, it highlights for me some core issues, if children and families weren't literally at stake here, I wouldn't be angry. I certainly wouldn't have created a blog highlighting that I believe in patriarchy and asserting a mans God-given rights. I LOVE children, and especially my children, and I know that fatherhood is my calling in life. I cannot go quietly into the night as a "church" tradition destroys not only my right to choose, but quite possibly literal offspring for potentially millions of bible believing men. I might be contained physically, but my heart and mind are free to believe God's whole revelation.
Some say it was a different ballgame back then; so different rules applied.
I am also not willing to play the dispensationalist's game, God's word is truth, then, now, and forever. His word is truth that endures throughout all generations, and he is showing love to a thousand generations for those who keep his commandments. What am I to do? How am I to respond to all of this? I am reading his word, after all.

I will push much of this energy into excelling in worldly ways such as fitness, finances, beauty, laughter, and self-confidence. I am doing this because I believe his word, and it motivates me to put my all into life, for the Glory of Yahweh. Still, I am indeed angry, and I am praying that Yahweh does something about this because it is a heavy burden, one that has implications far more important and deeply powerful than the majority of us consider. Sometimes I want the burden of my understanding of all of this removed, other times I am without hope under the weight of the misconceptions and outright deceptions around the subject of marriage. I also, like anyone claiming to follow Yahweh, want to live according to his word, and want to understand its true and full revelation, unhindered by my cultural bias. I will learn as much as I can in this lifetime, and accept his grace as I learn.
I reiterate, children, provided for, loved, included, and ultimately raised into God respecting adults, are fundamentally intertwined with the rights and incentives established in the old testament. Patriarchy is about home-building, fatherhood, and provision, and those are good things. In it all, eye on prize, Yahweh's truth, God's true light. Children are a inheritance from Yahweh, offspring a reward from him. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them.
I might not fly but I've got a hard enough head to crush some pigs on my way down.
