Therefore a Man

Genesis 2:24-25 24 Therefore a Man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his Woman, and they shall become one flesh. Man One of the Hebrew words for man is three hebrew letters Aleph, Yod, and Shin. Its pronounced like the popular expression for exaspertion - 'Yeesh!'! The biblically rooted phonetic equivilent finds one of it's first usages here in this statement on marriage in Genesis 2. Lets get some quick facts on the word before we go further. Primary Translation: Man Other Translations: Husband, Champion Hebrew Letter for Letter: Aleph, Yod, Shin English Phonetic: Yeesh Household, husbandry, patriarcal and provisional mandates as the core of biblical manhood finds roots in Genesis 1 and 2. Always in the Spirit, and obedient to Yah's Rule: and therefore in Love, in Genesis 2 it is declared that the man (Yeesh) should separate from his father and mother, and cleave to his wife. This verse is also quoted by Jesus in the new testament in his teaching on marriage, and is thus a foundation verse on for modern marriage as taught by the church cultures. It is therefore of the utmost importance to understand exactly what is being established here. Here a man is characterized as cleaving and uniting with his woman. What is that cleaving? On primal level, this verse definitely implies the act of sex, and the establishment therefore of a one-flesh union in the coming together. Still, I am a spiritual man, so I am willing to grant a grander aspect to it as well, but not at the abandonment of the clear primary meaning. That grander aspect would be undercharacterized as art, but brought into grander context as Worship! When we worship Yah, our Elohim, with all our physical energy, intellect, and emotion seeking to reflect his character here on earth, we are shining. When we don't, then we are lost in darkness, and in need of finding the light. I hope to bring some light to things for any readers, but please understand we can never abandone the roots. Therefore, it needs to be clearly understood that the sexual coupling of a man and a woman begins the one flesh reality of their relationship. Especially in the espounsal of common love and faith. As I reveal my thoughts, considerations, struggles, and triumps, my hope remains this site will ultimately give God some glory and offer a avenue of expression for philosophies and ideas on biblical manhood. I needed an outlet to express some of what I've been learning, and this is going to be that outlet for now. So here it is, my first post, and I hope God will bless this endeavor and ultimately lead me to the truths in his word and that you, the reader, would be invigorated and/or inspired by something you might find here. Woman A closer look at the word for wife also reveals some interesting discoveries. The translators, when bringing this word over to english, relied on biblical context to decide when to make it "wife" or "woman" or even in some cases "adulterous", but what I want to point out here, is the shift in context in making it wife in the later parts of the verse, even though it is woman in other parts. My opinion is this passage would make more sense if it was translated woman, as it is being generally juxtaposed against man here. There is only one word used for woman here in scripture, and I think it would help the consistency of the fully revelation. Therefore a man...shall cleave to his woman.... Another way to understand what I mean, is to let man be "husband" while keeping woman as "wife". Then it would read, Therefore a husband...shall cleave to his wife. I prefer the most generic understanding of the word as woman, as I believe we God is establishing general principles here and juxtaposing woman to man. Update: 9-10-16
